FIVE TIPS FOR AN EPIC PROPOSAL
‘Putting a ring on it’ (as Beyonce would say) should not be taken lightly: regardless if you’ve decided to plan an intimate moment or a bold public display of your love, detailed planning and preparation is vital for a memorable epic proposal. After all, the answer on the other side of “will you marry me” has the ability to change your life, forever. But hey, no pressure!
Instead of leaving you to calling your friends and facetiming them when you’re purchasing your partner’s ring, or when you’re about to propose, here are five tips for a memorable proposal. After all, you only get one shot!
Location, Location, Location
Choose a location meaningful to both of you, maybe it’s the place where you first said ‘I love you’, the location of your first kiss, first date location, where you first met or where you first swiped on Tinder/Bumble.
2. Down on Bending Knee
C’mon it’s 2019 and you still expect the bended knee proposal? Well, aside from this gesture being the universal symbol of a marriage proposal, you’ll also be able to brace yourself while looking into the eyes of your lover and manage your nerves.
3. No 4-Page Letters
You don’t need to write an entire novel to ask someone to marry you, but you certainly want to ensure you take your time to think through how you’ll ask for your partner’s hand in marriage. Write a note, or use your notes app. After all, it’s 2019 and nobody writes notes on paper anymore! Let your partner know you love them, tell them what you love about them, express your excitement for the future together; and certainly don’t forget to ask for their hand in marriage.
4. Hire a Photographer
If you plan on having family present for your proposal, don’t rob them of the experience of being live in the moment by having them take pictures. Hire a professional, trained in documenting these special moments. Your soon-to-be fiancé will be even more excited know that you’ve taken the time to hire a professional to document this moment.
5. Relish the Moment
In this day and age where it’s not official until you’ve ‘grammed it’, remember that you will never have this moment again. Consider waiting a few minutes/days to make the announcement. Take some time and let the reality of your newly engaged status sink in, day-dream, plan your wedding (if it hasn’t already been planned since the day you first met). Cherish this moment!
